Executive Team Declares All Incidents Opportunities for Stakeholder Alignment
Effective immediately, the word incident will be replaced in all internal communications. Incident volume is expected to remain unchanged.
Following a two-day offsite, the Syntax Energy executive team has announced that incidents will now be referred to as stakeholder alignment opportunities, or SAOs.
The change is intended to reflect the reality that every outage brings together engineering, support, legal, communications and finance in a single call, which the company describes as unprecedented cross-functional collaboration.
Engineers have been asked to update runbooks, dashboards and pager rotations accordingly. The pager will now say Opportunity.
The company confirmed that the alignment bonus, previously the incident bonus, will be paid at the same rate.
"We do not have more outages than other utilities. We have more alignment."
