Keep the grid powered.

Everything here is free: 20 games, 20 simulators and 25 tools, with no ads, no accounts and nothing tracked. The only real cost is the domain, and .energy domains are not cheap. If the site made you smile or saved you a search, a sponsorship keeps it online.

Grid reserve: this year's domain renewal

$0 of $170

0%

Running on hope and leftover semicolons.

GitHub Sponsors suits monthly or one-off support if you have a GitHub account; Ko-fi takes a one-off tip without one. Payment is handled entirely by GitHub or Ko-fi; this site never sees it. Be the first.

Stretch goals, unlocked for everyone

$0 raised in total

Every goal unlocks something for every visitor, sponsor or not. Nothing goes behind a paywall.

  1. The domain renews

    at $170

syntax.energy stays online for another year.

  2. A new game

    at $300

One more full game, built from the most requested idea.

  3. Global daily leaderboards

    at $500

Daily boards shared by everyone, checked by replaying the moves so scores cannot be faked.

  4. A new simulator

    at $800

Another full simulator, with challenges and achievements.

Grid investors

Sponsors who are happy to be named get a gold investor node on the Grid and a line in Investor Relations. Mention it in your GitHub or Ko-fi message, or say you'd rather stay anonymous.

The first node is still open

What sponsorship means, according to the board

  • Seed round

One coffee. The board calls it a seed round and updates the pitch deck.

  • Series A

A monthly sponsorship. Investor Relations will describe you as 'strategic'.

  • Infrastructure partner

Enough to cover the domain on your own. Your investor node on the Grid gets the corner office.

Tiers are jokes. Beyond your name on the Grid, sponsoring gets you nothing extra: every game, simulator and tool stays free for everyone.

Where the money goes

The domain renewal first, then the stretch goals above, in order. There are no real investors, despite what the investors page says.

Other ways to help

Share a game with a friend, send a bug to the support desk (Ada will escalate it), or set a score on the leaderboards.
